Easters on it's way!

Updated: Feb 19, 2020

So I decided that I am over Valentine's Day, and it hasn't even passed yet! I think the reason why I am tired of it because Christmas colors are primarily red, and red also carries over into Valentine's Day. Basically I am ready for pastels, vibrant greens, and warmer weather which checks off every box when it comes to spring! One of the things I am most passionate about is collecting my Rae Dunn pottery, and being so I've collected some adorable pieces for spring and Easter this year! I was too anxious and excited to wait until after Valentine's Day, but hey it will come and go by the weekend!

Every time I got to decorate my hutch, I always remove every piece already inside in order to give me a clean slate. I also wipe everything down so it is clean and fresh when adding the new décor. The color pallet I am aiming for this spring is pastels mixed with fresh greens. It is so weird to me how my mind works, because I think ahead of time how I want to decorate for a specific season, and then try to think of ways to transition some of the existing décor for the upcoming one. It saves me a ton of money by being able to use pieces over and over for upcoming seasons and holidays, and it also saves me a trip upstairs in the attic to grab more stuff! lol. Anyways, so once my hutch is bare and clean, I begin by taking all the items I want to use and lay them all out on the counter so I can see what I want to be my focal point. By doing this, you can easily add items around, to create different heights and textures. I counted how many pieces I've gathered over these last few weeks for spring and Easter and my lord if my husband knew how much I spent he would fall over dead. Side note: Am I the only wife out there that tries to hide my new stuff amongst my old so he doesn't notice? It's not like he would be mad, but he would just shake his head and say "why Ivy why?" so I just try to avoid his disappointment with my spending over freaking pottery and unnecessary florals. I mean I am a total sucker for a sale and when I have a coupon, it's like the Gods telling me I NEED to come buy these spring shop florals from Michael's. Don't even get me started on Tjmaxx, that place casts a freaking spell on your mind with all there discounted prices. Has anyone evert watched the movie Percy Jackson? Ya know when they go into the casino and they give you these flower cookies and it makes you think you've been there for 20 minutes meanwhile its been 30 days? Yeah, that is the way I feel when it comes to going into that store.

Okay good God Ivy let's get back to this freaking blog. So I added all my pottery, different heights and colors to give it a fresh look. I also added cute little spring gnomes too!

And there is my spring/ Easter hutch for 2020! I am so in love with how it turned out! I of course will be changing how it looks over the next few weeks depending on if I get new pieces! Thanks for reading :)
